Pediatric Diabetes ProgramWhat to ExpectEntering our Pediatric Diabetes Program Your next visit will be with the diabetes educator who will perform a height weight and brief exam, also download meters and pumps, review and adjust insulin regimen under the physician’s supervision, perform an A1C as well as educate you and your child to varied pertinent diabetes topics as well as provide suggestions on how to successfully incorporate diabetes management into your family’s lifestyle. You will have a great many questions and your educator will be able to guide and assist you in feeling more confident. Our Program suggests every two months visits which are alternated between your physician and diabetes educator. The nutritionist will see your child at least two times yearly and review your current meal plan as well as make suggestions for change and reinforce and educate you in a more comprehensive manner on carbohydrate counting and a healthy meal plan. Our social worker is available to meet individually with families but also can be found saying ‘hi’ to all our children as they enter the Pediatric Diabetes Program. He is an invaluable resource to our children and their families.
