Bedwetting Program
our program at Winthrop helps children overcome bedwetting through a constructive, positive approach that leads to improved bladder control and the increased confidence that comes with it. Biofeedback/EMG training for pelvic floor relaxation is used in patients with in coordination between bladder muscle and relaxation of the pelvic floor. Used with patients who have frequent urinary tract infections, voiding dysfunctions, and spinal cord diseases.

Dialysis (Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis) Inpatient and Outpatient
Winthrop provides a state of the art pediatric dialysis unit both for inpatients and outpatients. Our expert and experienced team of physicians and nurses provide the best of care for your child.

Hypertension Program
Your child’s hypertension is evaluated and treated here at the Children’s Kidney and Bladder Program.  There is an increasing prevalence of hypertension in children, whether it is hereditary or caused by lifestyle. Once referred by your pediatrician, our physician diagnoses and treats according to need.

Kidney Biopsy
Our physician with our hospital team provides kidney biopsies to diagnose and treat kidney diseases.

Kidney Transplant Services
Our team at Winthrop works with you and your child right up until your child gets his/her new kidney. Then we provide continued care after the transplant.

Sonography (Sonogram of Kidney and Bladder)
Sonograms of both the kidney and bladder are provided during your appointment with results available immediately.

Urodynamic Testing
Unique to Long Island, Winthrop provides the only pediatric Urodynamics lab. Urodynamics is the study of how the bladder stores and releases urine. Urodynamic tests help your doctor or nurse see how well the bladder and sphincter muscles work and can help explain symptoms such as incontinence, frequent urination, sudden, strong urges to urinate, problems starting a urine stream, painful urination, problems emptying your bladder completely and recurrent urinary tract infections.

Uroflometry
this test measures urine flow rate (how fast the urine exists the bladder) and help evaluate the bladder muscle.

Voiding Dysfunction Program
this program includes treatment for Urinary tract infections, daytime urine leaking and overactive bladder and bedwetting. These conditions can occur together or separately and are addressed to each child’s needs to help increase their confidence.
