Our facilities are family-friendly, spacious and welcoming to everyone. We provide the highest quality of care possible and treat everyone with respect. We also have an in-patient unit with specialized patient care teams on call 24 hours a day.
Personalized Rheumatology Treatment Plans
Our rheumatologist regularly collaborates with physicians in related specialties to ensure the most effective treatment protocol for each patient’s general health, type of rheumatologic disease and personal preferences. Treatment options include the latest in drug and biologic therapy. Our goal is to restore quality of life to the highest degree possible.
Pediatric Rheumatology Treatments
At Winthrop Pediatric Associates, our team use a variety of tools and techniques to ascertain the exact condition, once the condition is identified, a comprehensive treatment plan is formulated that could involve administering medication, hospitalization and other approaches depending on the severity of the condition.
We offer an Infusion Center in the same building to facilitate the administration of outpatient IV infusion treatments.
Pediatric Orthopaedic Associates at Winthrop
In the complex care and diagnostic process of rheumatic disease we frequently collaborate with the pediatric orthopaedic team at Winthrop with the surgical and non-surgical treatment of all aspects of musculoskeletal care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with rheumatic conditions. Since children are not simply small-adults – especially when continually growing bones and joints are involved – treatment of youngsters with orthopaedic conditions requires age-appropriate exceptional patient and family-centered care.
State of the Art Musculoskeletal Radiology at Winthrop
At Winthrop Pediatric Associates, we are able to optimize patient care with the excellent services of Winthrop Radiology Associates, who offer state of the art musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging. We are able to offer musculoskeletal ultrasound, which is a powerful diagnostic tool that most practices do not routinely offer. Musculoskeletal ultrasound allows patients with contraindications to MRI or severe claustrophobia to undergo testing for soft tissue injury evaluation. Additionally, ultrasound is useful for precise image guided needle placement for therapeutic steroid (cortisone) injections.
Transition services to Adult Rheumatology
Health care transition is the process of changing from a pediatric to an adult model of health care. A smooth transition requires defined processes to support youth in acquiring independent health care skills, preparing for an adult model of care, and transferring to new providers. This usually happens between age 18 and 21 years. At Winthrop Pediatric Associates we can facilitate this often difficult event as our Pediatric Rheumatologist works exceptionally close with the Adult Rheumatology Department.
